The Winter School. Limen, 2075.
What happens to education when the classroom is no longer enough? A group of students, teachers, researchers and independent learners have abandoned the conventional system and founded a new institution in Limen: no examinations, no prescribed curriculum, no fixed hierarchy between teacher and student. Knowledge is exchanged through experimentation, discussion, making, observation and collective living.
Design the Winter School: not a conventional school building but a futuristic learning campus where education, habitation, research, making, recreation and community overlap. Limen's extreme winter isn't something to shelter from. It can generate space, movement and experience. If we could rebuild education from nothing, what would we build?
You'll get the site plan and dimensions, site contours, weather data, the competition template and stationery (butter sheets, pens, pencils). Deliverables: at most two A2 sheets, hand-drawn or digital, and a design statement of 150 to 200 words.
Report at 9:15 AM. Handouts are given at 9:30 AM.
