    An interactive model-making challenge that tests observation, strategy, creativity and structural thinking.

    Every participant is given a set number of coins to bid for materials in two rounds, one at the beginning of the event and another midway through. Using only the materials you win, design and build a model within the time limit, then submit it for testing and evaluation.

    Height (20%, up to 80 cm). Static load (40%): the model is tested for the load it can withstand. Shake test (30%): the model is tested for sudden impact. Aesthetics and resource management (10%): the visual quality of the model and how well you used the coins and materials you won.

    Rules

    • Every participant gets the same set number of coins, used only for bidding.
    • Materials can only be bought in the two official bidding rounds. No outside materials.
    • The model can be at most 80 cm tall.
    • The model must be finished within the competition time.
    • Models are load tested with a standard procedure.
    • The organisers' decisions on coins, bidding, materials and load testing are final.
    • The 2nd prize depends on the number of registrations.
